Our
Society is having a Rose Fair on May 04, 2013 from 9am -1pm. at the Field house in Thornden Park, Syracuse, NY. Our purpose
is to educate rose and gardening enthusiasts on every aspect of growing healthy and beautiful roses. Table displays will be
set up offering information and demonstrations of proper selection and planting
of roses, getting your rose bed ready in the spring, soil testing, fertilizing,
and soil amendments, Insect and disease control, chemicals and their proper use, composting and organic practices, rose arrangements
and exhibiting. There will be information on rose photography, pruning techniques and preparing your rose bed for winter.
The tools of the trade will displayed along with demonstrations on maintaining and sharpening them. Information on Old garden roses and miniature and miniflora roses will be there, along with local and mail
order sources for buying roses, The history of the E.M. Mills Memorial Rose garden and much more. There will handouts at many
tables with rose growing tips and information. ARS certified Consulting Rosarians will be on hand to answer all of your rose
questions. The admission is Free along with free beverages and light snacks. Our goal is to take the fear out of growing roses.
