Greg's Tips for winning photographs:

Fill as much of the picture as possible with the rose bloom.
Don't shoot your picture straight down; try to achieve a 45-60 degree angle.
Using a black background will bring out the color of the rose.
Make sure there are no bugs or other distractions on or near your rose.
Remember, roses at the Mill Garden are always great subjects.

Enjoying Roses All Year
through Photography

At the upcoming November 11th meeting we will be having our annual Photography Contest.  Feel free to enter your favorite photographs, and then after the judging, our own Greg Sohrweide will dazzle us with a collection of photographs that he has taken.

Greg has won many awards for his photography and what better time to see his compilation than the night of the competition.  During his presentation he will offer us many tips on how to take great rose photographs while having the benefit of being able to show us the results of his time tested techniques.  Then, after being the recipients of this newfound knowledge, we can take great pictures and enjoy the beauty of our roses even when there is a blanket of snow covering them for many months.

As always, Sandy's stunning, spectacular serving table will be filled with sundry, succulent desserts, enough to satisfy our SRS members.

See you on November 11th!
